![]() Let me try to explain how the LRCC desktop app works, which should then answer your question about duplicates: However, in that situation, any editing work that you did on the phone would not appear in Classic, though it would in LR CC. But if the catalog is NOT sync enabled, then they won't be added to the Classic catalog, therefore you could safely import them and there would be no risk of duplicates in that catalog. If it IS sync-enabled, then as TheresaJ explained, those images that you added to the phone will also be automatically downloaded into your Classic catalog (complete with the phone edits), so there would be no need to try to import them into Classic from your desktop. If you mean LR Classic, the answer to that depends on the sync status of the Classic catalog. Which version of Lightroom (in bold) do you mean? If you mean LR CC, then there would be no need to add them again from your desktop when you get home.they will automatically appear there when the sync upload from your phone has completed. If you need any further help and support PM me.If I don’t want to wait to get home and I transfer photos onto my phone and edit them in the Lightroom CC app, would I then duplicate the original photos in Lightroom when I transfer them from the card onto my computer? I’ve watched and read a bunch of tutorials, but I can’t wrap my head around how this would work. It also has a face recognition system you can gradually train. LrC offers a lot of ways to organize vast amounts of photos. In a way it’s good you haven’t organized anything within Apple photos because any Albums organization there won’t get transferred into LrC. You can them filter them by file type and manually choose which ones to delete: for example you would keep the largest resolution photo of a shot and discard the rest. You can install the Lightroom Duplicate Finder plug-in and it will find within LrC all these duplicates. You may still have some duplicates, but they won’t be the same exact files: for example a raw picture and it’s associated jpg or two different jpg sizes of the same shot. Now install LrC and import these files using the add option so that LrC refers to these files in the place you had copied them without making another copy. It will always keep one copy of the duplicate files. In order to get rid of the true (bit for bit) duplicates use the Free dupeguru app Point it to this copy of the Masters folder and it will find the duplicates which you will then mark from the menu: you can opt to delete them or move them somewhere else. Be sure that Apple photos has downloaded all the files into your Mac first (disable photos iCloud storage!!!) ![]() Copy this folder to another location that has adequate space. LrC can read their metadata and you can always filter them by date, camera, gps location and later by the keywords you will tag them with.īut before using LrC do this: find the apple photos library file (it’s usually inside your picture folder-you can find its location in Apple photos preferences) and right click on it to show package contents: your full res originals are located inside a Masters folder. You should use LrC (Lightroom Classic) and import all your photos in order to organize them with it. Please direct non-lightroom topics to the most appropriate of the following!
